I just put you in

•May 28, 2008 • 7 Comments

That was the subject line of an email recently received from my Area Director, Rob Anderson, telling me that as of october I will officially be in the budget for younglife staff in Park City.

:)

Yep. I am officially on younglife staff this coming fall in the glorious town of Park City. I am way pumped and way nervous, but all in all I feel pretty good trusting God in this decision. So for the people who always knew I’d do and for the people who told me to avoid it at all cost (cough cough ben cough cough)….

I’m doing it.

Younglife is my heroin.

P.S. Kyle Taylor and I are now doing YL in the same region, weeeeeeeeeeeird???

The old has gone…

I know I haven’t written a real post in a while, and I don’t have any real reasons for that besides nice weather and laziness. So apologies to you all.

Anyhow, I just realized something amazing!! My friend and I were talking a bit ago about what we were doing 10 years ago. Who we liked, what we looked like, what music we were about, basically just trying to remember what it looked like to be Allie in 1998. Then it struck me. This time of year, ten years ago as i was finishing up my 7th grade year, I was just signing up to go to a camp thru my church in the summer. It was basically a camp to get out of going to sunday school and that was my sole purpose in going, however…

10 years ago in the summer of 1998 at Hiram House Camp, I accepted Christ into my heart and my life.

I just googled the ol’ HHCamp and found a picture of the exact place it all went down.

its not a great picture. But this is the outdoor chapel in the woods at Hiram and here is where I prayed with my camp counselor Erica Perla-Severini and for the first time God became real to me and awoke something firey in my heart. Life has not been the same since. There has been many ups and downs and lots of backsliding and lots of obstacles overcome, but through it all I know that my life is full in ways it could have never been without Christ and for that I am so grateful.

The other cool thing about all this is that I am working through the TMS bible verse system for a second time and one of my memory verses this week is 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

Its just really incredible being able to spend this week meditating on that verse and thinking about how I became a new creation 10 years ago. About how much of the old I have left behind and can continually leave behind on a regular basis. I am renewed daily in Christ and in Him I find the strength to let go of the things in my past holding me down and continue to strive toward the person He chose me to be. Its just all way cool to think about and I just can’t believe the life He has given me and the blessings He soaks me in on a regular basis. So I just wanted to share that with you guys and maybe you should take a minute to look at where you once were and where you are now. And rejoice in the forgiveness, compassion, grace and mercy so lovingly shown to us and thank God for the new creation He has made in you and the new creation He can transform you into tomorrow.

Let me say it again:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

*note the exclamation point! this is exciting. Paul was excited to say it and I am excited to say it again. :)

con amor,

allie

You can ignore this unless you are Christa….

So, Christa Anderson (one of my coolest PC friends…i have like 4) tagged me in her little blog to complete this quiz and so in fear of losing 25% of my friends by neglecting her, I will respond…also she rocks my socks.

Here are the questions and my answers.

What was I doing 10 years ago?:
Ahhh ten years ago was april of 1998 (CRAZY) and I was rocking the serious 90’s bangs in the seventh grade at Hudson MIddle School. I reaked of awkwardness and enjoyed a solid group of…well equally awkward friends. I probably talked to Michele Kelley every afternoon on the phone for about 1 hr while we watched 90210. I played soccer on the weekends, ate mac n’ cheese everyday, hated my brother and had a giant crush on S.G. Rolls (by the way if you are reading this SG, you are a tool for abbreviating your name and I am much hotter now and i still rock bangs, so there). About this time I was also signing up for Hiram House PSR camp, where I would accept Christ that summer and change my life forever. So yeah, 10 years ago I was geeky and about to become JEsus freaky. yep

busy little allie

I’ve been way busy out here in good ol’ utah, thus the lack of posts. Also I don’t have anything too interesting to tell you… so there’s that. I shall update you a little nonetheless.

SKi season is over in Park City, the resorts are closed, but the snow hasn’t quite called it quits. Some days its 75 and sunny and then some days its a white out. It happens and its making me kinda sick….literally.

I’ve been working overtime at starbucks for a couple weeks now, which is super exhausting but good cause I definitely need to start saving up some moo-lah for my summer. Which as of now includes 1 week of taking the YL kiddos to camp at Woodleaf in Cali, 3 weeks working at Crooked Creek ranch on summer staff in Colorado, a little bitty trip back east to see some faces i miss, hopefully a visit from matthew and/or mariko (or anyone else, come on utah is sick), and lots and lots and lots of camping/hiking/climbing/rafting/etc. Good stuff

Not much else going on though. Younglife has been going real good, club and low numbers are still occasionally frustrating, but kids are finally interested in campaigners (its cause we have cereal before hand every week) aaaaaaaaand we finally have a cool group of girls who always wanna hang out, so thats way fun. Looove me some quality random hang outs. Its what Yl is all about, and its the best part of it. Other than that Just lots of being busy and lots and lots of thinking, but about things that are not ready to be posted. it’ll happen, just wait.

On a final note I cannot stop listening to cover songs, i am so hooked on them right now its great. I can list a ton for you to check out, but for now, just check out this one. Nothing like a quality cover that totally changes a song.

face i miss: mariko’s …you are half-anese and i love you. come to utah and roll me some sushi

rediscover this song: John Mayer – Why Georgia

thing i hate today: artificial sweetners, stop using them. there soooooooooooooooooo not meant to be in your body.

thing i love today: perscription cough syrup with codine. its whats gettin me through the week and i am pretty sure it is exactly what should be in my body. yay

keep on keeping on

allie

watch me rise up…

•April 6, 2008 • 3 Comments

A lot has been going on including all sorts of stuff at work, issues with friends, old/new relationship dilemmas, quarrels at home and concerns about the future and in the end i think its just too much for me to post about. So today, all i have is this video. Its just one of my all time favorite motivation songs. Its Ashes by Embrace and with a line like “watch me rise up and leave all the ashes you made out of me” how could it not be motivational.

SO watch this video…

and go ahead and watch me rise up and leave all the ashes you made out of me.
